How to Show Love While Social Distancing

Living in a world where social distancing has become our new normal is completely weird, don’t you agree? I mean not spending Easter with my family and knowing I won’t be with my mother for Mother’s Day is killing me! I’m even working from home through May 31st as of now. Everything going on is a little scary but definitely teaching me to appreciate the little luxuries in life! I come from a normal of going to my parent’s house every weekend and Jeff and I shooting the shit with my parent’s, having a drink, talking to my grand mother and “big sistering” my little sister and for over a month know all of this has happened over FaceTime, it’s hardly the same. I decided with everything going on this would be the perfect time to list some ways you can show love to your friends and family from afar!

Virtual Girl’s Night

Even if you’re not drinking, you need that time with your girlfriend’s! A few weeks back some girlfriend’s of mine and I spent hours just chit chatting about what’s going on in our lives, our new normal and some great things we’ve had happen to us as a result of social distancing. It’s super easy to do his via zoom or even a group FaceTime. Spending that hour or so with a face t face interaction of those friends you haven’t seen will be sure to brighten up everyone’s evening!

Write a Letter

Ok so I know you might be thinking the last thin I wanna do is touch an envelope that’s been through the postal service but personally writing and even receiving a letter brings me back to being a child when I moved from New York and my best friend’s and I would send letters back and forth. If you have younger siblings or nieces and nephews who haven’t really had any experience with letters, the receiving and sending of a letter could be something fun for them, same with grandparents who come from the era of penmanship and letters! I letter that you took the time out to write and send is a little more thoughtful then sending a text.

Support Locals

This one is pretty self explanatory. For awhile I found myself struggling with the idea of ordering take out but truthfully there are so many restaurants here in Orlando owned by locals hat Jeff and I love and w would be heartbroken to not see them on the other side of this! They need our support more than ever! From DahliasFlowerTruck doing bouquet deliveries to Pig Floyd’s Urban Barbakoa doing pick up orders, show our local business as much love as ever right now.

Love on Those Close to You

Being quarantined can be off putting and can easily drive someone crazy. So when our partner, family member or roommate start to get a little snappy remember everyone’s anxiety is high right now. Try loving on those close to you, where that mean’s doing dishes that aren’t yours, making the whole house breakfast or even just helping out with an extra chore around the house. Something as small as an act of service can really make someone day.

Spend Time with the Lord

Truthfully, every time I talk to anyone lately I keep saying I just never thought this would happen and I find it gets me a little down. I’ve had multiple cry in the shower sessions just worried and scared and this is the best time of all to spend with the Lord. I continuously ask him to empty body of the world and it’s ways and full me with him and his love. There is no love like the Lord’s love and just talking some time each day to spend in his presence is calming and exactly wha I’ve found I need.

There are so many was we can show love to others during this social distancing time and by doing that we indirect will uplift and surrounds ourselves with love.
