I was recently inspired by Modani Furniture and decided to go ahead and design a modern living room because anyone who knows me knows a few things.
1. I absolutely love designing rooms and moving my own furniture around
2. I tie fashion into EVERYTHING!
3. I have a split personality (I’ll explain!)
Let me elaborate on that last point, sometimes I’m very dark and it’s all about black, a bit more sophisticated and classic while sometimes I like things to be brighter and “younger” and it’s all about white, although clean and crisp, white is simple enough to be dressed up yet relaxed enough to keep you calm. So with that being said of course I had to design a living room set for each of my personalities!
Here’s the first!
I opted for a grey sofa as the focal point of this set and kept it pretty cool with silvers, blacks and colors within that family. The dark grey rug give some depth to the room and ties in with the dark grey/black and silver pillows pillows, there is also sprinkles of white from the table, the ceiling lights and the buddha. As you can see I tied the entire room together with the look on the right, because to me this room is the room of a power person or in this case a power woman.
Now my second room!
Now although the color scheme is the same the look is very different, starting with a white sofa as the focal point. The white automatically brighten the room up. Paired with a white coffee table adding a touch more of brightness into the room the rest of the pieces can help to contrast. Just like you wouldn’t wear a white shoe with an all white outfit, you need a shift in color even if you’re staying within the same family of colors. With that said the lighting and the decorative pillows in this room are dark black and grey and the detail on both the pillows and lighting help to give the room a more fun and youthful, funky feel. Add a princess-like mirror and some fun table pieces and we have a living room fit for a downtown chic bachelorette! Don’t believe me? just check out the outfit to the right, every girl loves a good boyfriend jean and crop top, throw on a wide brimmed hat and some metallic pumps and you’ll fit right in!
