Solange Piaget Knowles born in Houston Texas on June 24, 1986 is in my opinion one of the most influential African American women of my generation. Think about it, really sit down and think about it, this is a woman who is a mother, a wife, a sister, and artist, and activist, a true thinker and lets be real with ourselves a Fashion Idol and a Natural Hair Guru. I have this profound appreciation for this woman!

Those who follow Solange on Instagram (@SaintRecords) know she is one of the most colorful, fun and funky, well traveled and culturally diverse people. Whether chillin in NOLA, walking down the street in Brooklyn, on a boat in the Mediterranean, or on the beach in Senegal this woman’s look form her hair to her clothing and every detail in-between is effortless and amazing.

With style heroes like of course momma Tina, Diana Ross and Erykah Badu it’s no wonder Solange is always serving the hell out of us. There are 3 things I obsess with in terms of fashion and “the look” when it comes to Solange…. The hair, The bright colors and of course the way she mixes patterns.

1. The Big Hair. The Versatile Hair. THE HAIR

Solange as I stated earlier is one of the few natural hair gurus the black women in our generation have and boy oh boy does she know how to rock any look! From her big chop, to the poetic justice braids that SHE ROCKED to the many fros in-between Solange is the queen of versatile hair.

2. Solange is forever wearing bright colors!

We love how eclectic an bold Solange’s wardrobe is. We are always seeing her in bright hues; form yellows to pinks and everything else you can imagine she definitely catches the eye of everyone in the room.

Now not everyone can mix patterns and get away with it, let’s face it some of us just look plain stupid. Now I don’t know if she can do it and look fly because she’s Solange or because she really does just look fly but when this woman mixes these bright colors and these funky designs and patterns she breathes life into me every time!
