DO ALL HOME CHORES AT THE END OF THE WORK WEEK
Typically, we reserve our Sundays for home chores.. Or is that only me? I do all my cleaning and the house laundry every Sunday, shop for my groceries and put together all my flower arrangements. I wake up around 8 am to get it all done by 11a.m. so I can spend the rest of my day outside enjoying the weather but why wait until the last day of the weekend? I know when you get home from work between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on a Friday the last thing you want to do is your household chores – realistically you’d probably want to pour yourself a glass of wine and kick back before you get ready for a night out with friends or your spouse but make a tiny sacrifice now for a greater reward later! Pour yourself a glass of wine, throw your laundry in the wash, disinfect all the countertops, empty the dishwasher and sweep/vacuum the floors. An Hour or so of work to gain that time back on your Sunday!
TREAT YOUR WEEKEND’S AS MINI VACATION
Stop looking at your weekend as the two days you have to do all personal task that you didn’t have time to do during the work week. Your weekend is your weekly vacation and treat it as such. Go to the pool, go for hike, enjoy a meal. Step away from the wake up, clean, buy groceries, routine and throw some spontaneity into your weekend! Some things I like to do on my weekends are visit any type of festival happening nearby – or the various farmer’s markets in town- , indulge in a brunch with my husband, and spend time outside taking in the sun.
CREATE A TO DO LIST FOR MONDAY AND UNPLUG ON FRIDAY
We’ve all (or almost all) have had a job that enabled us to think about work all weekend – and who can enjoy their weekend like that?- Want to truly enjoy your weekend? Before you leave the office (or WFH space) on Friday, clear your emails out, create a to-do list for Monday and unplug. Don’t check your emails and make sure all tasks that needed to be completed get completed so there’s nothing work related occupying your mind during your weekend!
Take these 3 tips, put them into effect immediately and you’ll find that soon enough your weekends will be more relaxing and enjoyable.
