I’d like to think I make it pretty known that I’m big on self – care, self – improvement and overall feeling our best ALWAYS. In a time where people can openly say whatever they want about you behind a keyboard (and people now have courage to do so to your face as well) and it’s easier to find yourself down about where you are and who you are, I’ve decided to share 4 small ways you can feel your best!
Sleep Training
I’ve recently seen lifestyle blogger Marianna Hewitt discuss how she is sleep training and a good friend of mine Nubiana has begun to do so as well and both ladies mention how it has been a tremendous help in not only falling asleep but staying asleep which directly effect our mood when waking up and the remainder of the day! So find a time for you – begin your nighttime routine ; shower, face, hair etc and create a schedule – say you want to begin winding down at 9:30 PM every night, then after 9:30 be conscious to no longer look at your phone, turn the lights off and set your TV automatic shut off for 10:30PM. our bodies will adjust to this schedule and you will have inevitably trained yourself for sleep!
Create a Hard End to Your Workday
So one big issue we have in America is that we live to work instead of working to live. What I mean by this is we don’t acknowledge that as humans we require a work life balance to not only effectively work but to stay in a positive mental health state of mind. If your office closes at 5PM or your workday ends at 6 then make sure it ends at 6. Don’t allow yourself to be answering emails and having phone calls into the night! Set boundaries for yourself when it comes to work and don’t let anyone bend them.
Spend More Time Outside
When my husband and I first started dating I was huge on day dates – anything to be outside during the day soaking in the sunshine, I’ve been that way for as long as I can remember and now at almost 29 I sill want to spend all my time outside! If I could work outside I would. It’s been scientifically proven that spending time outdoors and in the sun specifically can release hormones that create euphoria and happiness in the body!
Don’t Spend Your Early Morning Moments Scrolling Social Media
I once read that when scrolling social media is the first thing you do in the morning it starts your day of focused on other people’s lives instead of our own. I’ve begun challenging myself to walk up and read a few passages from the bible – this is something I want to do for my mental health but you can do whatever is conducive to you and getting your day started!
