I don’t know about you but I’m all about finding ways to make the most of my time all while doing something that I’m going to enjoy. Being in an office (with no windows might I add) Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM I like to spend my warmer Weekend Days (especially those Summer weekend days) doing something fun and enjoyable! From creating new experiences for yourself to something as simple as a Self Care Saturday I’m bringing you 5 things you can do to make the most of your Summer days.
Create a Bucket-List
I’m all about new experiences and doing things you’ve always wanted to do! I think one of the perfect ways to ensure you have a wild Summer is to not only create a bucket list of things you’ve always wanted to do but to actually follow through on the list! There’s something exciting in doing things you’ve never done no matter how big or small. It should be an easy task to create a list of things you’ve never done but always wanted to experience and cross one of each weekend throughout the Summer season! If you’re creating a bucket list be sure to leave me a comment with one thing from your list! One thing on my Summer Bucket List is to drive to the beach early enough to watch the sunrise.
Go on a Road Trip
If you work a regular Monday to Friday gig like me then this one isn’t as simple as making your mind up on Sunday and getting in the car Monday but with a little planning this can definitely be the highlight of your Summer! If you properly plan and ensure you get the week off from work a Friday to Saturday road trip would definitely be a blast. Whether you’re driving to a new city or across the country a Summer road trip with a spouse or group of friends should definitely be something you try this season. I would suggest finding a route to your destination that allows you stop in smaller and bigger cities with notable sights to see. Don’t forget the Camera! I suggest a fun polaroid.
Spend the Day at an Amusement Park
Now this one might be easier for me than others seeing as how I live in Orlando but even if your town as a Six Flags or a carnival make the most of it and give yourself a day to be a kid again. One thing I love doing on a Summer Day is heading out to Island of Adventures or even Disney and just having a good time. Riding the rides, eating and drinking all the amusement park food and of course getting those super cliché photos. There’s something so nostalgic to me about being in an amusement park on a hot Summer day.
Be a Tourist in Your Own City
Often times we complain about there being nothing to do in our own cities (I’m definitely guilt of this all too often saying I hate living in Orlando) But truly, it’s just not the case. There’s always something to do and you should spend a day being a tourist in your own city. Here in Orlando for instance – it definitely doesn’t have to be one of the theme parks but there are tons of what us locals would consider touristy things that can be done. Check out Old Town – they’ve got some amazing shops (especially the popcorn and old school candy shop) and a great car show, take an evening and go to Disney Springs – there’s always live flash mob on every corner and plenty of restaurants to try for the first time, I would even suggest spending the afternoon in a museum or a garden. There are plenty of things you can do in your own city that tourist absolutely love and I would say give them a try this Summer!
Perfect Your Go To Summer Cocktail
In my humble opinion Summer is all about hosting friends and family and nothing says Summer like an afternoon BBQ complete with a signature cocktail! and let’s be honest with ourselves the trial and error of creating a signature cocktail will definitely be a good time! I would suggest something with a lemonade or spritzer, mint and some type of fruit! Have fun with it, play with liquor and color and create something that you’ll keep in your recipe book for Summers to come! I’m all about a Fruit Mojito or a Spicy Spike Lemonade! What’s your favorite Summer cocktail?
