I’ve had many different woman ask me my opinion when it comes to fashion and what pieces to but for their wardrobe and I think my answer is always a bit surprising. A thousand times again I was always say the same thing, if you have a wardrobe that is composed of a least the basics then you can create so many different looks for both day and night. These 10 items are the items you invest in and then you add trendier pieces at a way more affordable price point! If you’re like me or you’ve found yourself wondering how to maximize our wardrobe with minimal pieces then let’s get into it!
1 Dark Denim Jeans
Dark denim is interchangeable no matter the season and when you purchase a great quality pair you’ll find that they will last you for years! I’d recommend staying away from trendy styles and moving forward in buying a straight leg pair!
2 White Button Up Shirt
The white button up shirt is a piece that you can wear to work under a blazer, on the weekend with denim shorts and the sleeves rolled up or even to happy hour with midi skirt and heel. Truthfully I would suggest buying 2 or 3 white button up shirts!
3 A Black Blazer
You’ll never believe that my black blazer is probably one of m most grabbed for pieces in m wardrobe! From girls night out worn with jeans, a blouse and a pump to office wear with a trouser, a black blazer is a piece you should absolutely invest in!
4 White Sneakers
Now, I’m not talking about those sneakers you played basketball in last weekend but an all white leather fashion sneaker. One pair I love are extremely affordable and can be found just about anywhere! The all white leather low top Converse is my go to for any look that involves a sneaker!
5 A Black Leather Bag
Ladies! A basic that should always be in your wardrobe is a black leather purse, I’d say a hand held, cross body or should bag. No Totes! At least not right now! Whether you’re walking into an interview or going to to dinner this is a bag you should be able to grab that will match just about an look! A great one I absolutely recommend is the Coach Parker Bag in Black Calfskin Leather.
6 The Slouchy White Tee Shirt
Truthfully we all love o be comfortable and sometimes that doesn’t always mean being fashionable (hello high heels) but one item you always have to have in our wardrobe that is he face of comfortability is a slouchy white shirt. Worn with joggers on a quick run out or with the satin skirt in your closet and loafers, the versatility of a white t shirt is endless!
7 The Ballet Flat
I live for a ballet flat – so french girl of me but a good ballet flat instantly gives me Olivia Palermo vibes and she may have been the villain in The City but we can’t negate that the girl has some serious style! I say keep it neutral and invest in a black, cream, brown or red pair. I love Sam Edelman and Margaux NY for a ballet flat and remember to always shoot for a flat that has either an almond or rounded toe cap and a slight heel ( just the tiniest) it will always make the flat look a little more expensive!
8 Silk Camisole
I love a delicate camisole under a black blazer or even on it’s own ( love a bare shoulder and exposed collarbone) I would say you can wear a silk cami with probably ANY outfit you put together! I love a bone color or even black for evening.
9 The LBD
The little black dress is a wardrobe staple no matter where in the world you live. It can easily be worn during the day with a denim jacket and those white leather sneakers or worn at night with a heel and bare shoulders. The great thing about the LBD is you can do it however you’d like, short, longer, thin straps or even with sleeves – whatever makes you comfortable!
10 A Neutral Heel
I’m all about a sexy heel! One- who doesn’t love a heel and two- the versatility that comes with a neutral heel it perfection! From a nude heel at a day wedding to a black heel for date night, the heel is a wardrobe piece that you can get wear you of every single week!
