8 Pieces for Your Perfect Summer Wardrobe

Lately I’ve been listening to one of my favorite podcast The Simple Sophisticate nonstop and recently she’s brought out an archived episode, dedicated to curating the perfect wardrobe (dressing like a Parisian). I decided with Summer on the horizon why not give you all my take on the 8 pieces you need in your Summer Wardrobe to create a number of looks for any occasion in the warmer weathered days!  If you’re interested in cultivating the perfect Summer Wardrobe then keep reading and be sure to tell me what pieces you agree with and what you think I might be missing!

The White T Shirt

You might look at this first piece and think perfect, I can run to my closet Forever 21 and snag one of these for $5 but that’s not what I’m talking about. Always remember quality over quantity.  You may not want to go out and spend $25 on a plain white t shirt but this is a piece that you’re going to wear much more than you think you will and with wash after wash you don’t want a piece that will wear and you’ll end up having to buy time over time.  Take a moment and do research, creating a wardrobe of quality pieces is truly an investment, so invest in a great quality white T Shirt.

Cropped Denim

The perfectly tailored denim jean is a piece that will be great in your wardrobe and not just for Summer! This is a piece that you can wear on any occasion and any time of day.  dressed up with a heel or dressed down with a sneaker or sandal, a non-distressed nice fitted denim jean is a must for every wardrobe.

A Maxi Dress

The Maxi dress is the perfect Summer wardrobe staple. There’s going to be days where you truly just don’t want to feel bothered putting together a look and the maxi dress is for those days.  Pair your maxi with a statement earring and a sandal and you’re on your way!  Light and airy, this wardrobe piece is one that will get wear again and again but definitely a piece you don’t have to play it safe with so don’t get a black or white maxi, have some fun and be bold with color and print.

I personally am a fan of the shoulder which automatically makes me a fan of the shoulder bearing top! Perfect for Summer, the camisole can be paired with jeans, shorts and skirts, day or night! The right camisole (with just a hint of lace) can make even the most casual jeans just a bit more sexy for your day to day life.

A Pleated Midi Skirt

I’ve found that I wear a pleated midi skirt in every season but especially in Summer. With all the solid colors and the prints you can now find this is another Summer wardrobe staple that can be worn in almost any way.  Paired with that white t shirt and sneakers or a camisole and a low heel, the pleated midi skirt a most certainly a wardrobe staple!

White Button Down

Okay Ladies, I’m not referring to the stiff white button down you’re wearing to work under your blazer. For Summer, I would suggest a white button down to wear with shorts during the day or even at night to dinner.  In my closet you’ll find 2 a linen white button down (perfect for those super-hot Summer days) and a silk button down – the perfect light button down for those evenings where you want something just a tad bit heavier that still sits on the skin nicely.

A Sandal

During the Summer season when I’m not at work I’m almost always in a flat sandal (I prefer a brown leather). Sam Edelman is my favorite designer for this because not only are the sandals extremely comfortable but they’re cute too.  I find that I pair my brown sandals with EVERY outfit and they would be perfect with that cropped denim and white t shirt or the pleated midi and camisole.

The Sneakers

There’s no denying there’s something cool about sneakers and something even cooler about the girl who not only pairs them with her Summer dress but pulls it off! Of course sneakers are a basic wardrobe piece that add comfortability and coolness to every look. I’d go with the simple sneaker, keep it casual and don’t get too fancy!

Wedding Wednesday; My Bridal Shower

If you would’ve asked me when I was little girl what I wanted my bridal shower to be like I wouldn’t have had a clue but when Jeff and I got engaged in 2017 I knew exactly what I wanted.  This past weekend my Mother and Bridal Party threw me the most beautiful Tea Party themed bridal shower and I couldn’t wait to share it with you guys!  Since being engaged it’s been all about wedding planning, from designing and printing and sending out wedding Save the Dates and Invites to cake tasting and long email threads with vendors but on Saturday it was truly all about me!  Throughout this entire planning process I have never felt more loved! For those guys who don’t know how they got here, the Bridal Shower is the day where close family and friends come together to shower the bride to be in love, laughter and of course gifts! I opted for a girls only Tea Party themed shower and couldn’t be happier with it!

When my mother first came to me about my bridal shower ( I had very little involvement, it was all her, our dear family friend Kesha and my bridal party) we were brainstorming ideas and I immediately knew I wanted a whimsical tea party themed and a room full of tea cups and hats!  We sited and fell in love with the Historic Dubsdread Ballroom right on a golf course and knew it was the perfect location!  The style of the room and the natural light mixed with the brunch menu and the mimosa bar made for everything I wanted in a bridal shower venue!

The tables were draped in white linen with vintage teapots and blooms in the center.  Advice for the bride cards were laid with every napkin ( I enjoyed reading those both allowed and some to myself) and the cake table was covered in vintage teacups and saucers for each girl to choose and of course bring home surrounding the amazing cake! There were photos of Jeff and I scattered throughout the room and the words Tea, Mr and Mrs, and Love strategically placed.  The room was filled with love and laughter from the moment I walked in.

We played some games and had some laughs prior to opening gifts and some toasts from some very amazing woman in the room ( all with mimosas in hand!)

For the favors, My mother and I discussed doing something that the guests would have use for, there’s nothing I hate more than something that will get lost, be thrown away, or just left in a drawer in the house.  My mother’s coworker makes hand soaps and lip balm and she made a great little package for each of my attendees with “Danielle’s Bridal Tea” wrapped around each of them! The each smelled so good and looked so cute in the little baggies! I loved that there was this useful favor for each girl to take along with the vintage tea cup they were able to select earlier in the day!

Overall, I had an amazing day and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect bridal shower.  SO many people assisted in making sure my day was everything I wanted and that I felt loved and I truly appreciate everyone for that! I wanted to say Thank you to not only my Mother Yvonne and our friend Kesha but my beautiful Bridal Party; my Matron of Honor Alyssa, my Maid of Honor Char, my Bridesmaid and little Sister Dominique and my two Bridesmaids Brecha and Imani for all their work in planning this day!  Thank You to everyone for their detiled planning!

Leather Pants and Lace Ruffles

Leather Glazed Pants | Banana Republic || Black Lace Statement Sleeve Blouse | Forever 21 similar here|| Black Patent Pumps | Christian Louboutin Pigalles || Scarf | From Paris similar here || Handbag | Coach Parker

I’ve always been a fan of an all black look with some fun pieces thrown in and I think this look was just that! I’ve wanted leather trousers for years after watching a video on style with Olivia Palermo (whom I love).  I finally snagged a pair just a few weeks so from the Banana Republic Factory store, I paired them with this gorgeous lace detailed blouse I purchased in 2017 from Forever 21.  I love taking inexpensive pieces and pairing them with higher end pieces which is why I tied the look together with my Louboutin World Pigalles, this gorgeous scarf my mother bought in Paris and my Coach Parker bag.

Warmer Weather in Orlando

I know its been in the negatives pretty much all over the country (my brother and his wife live in Milwaukee and with the wind chill it was -60 degrees) I could never!  SO after a week of the weather app saying it would be rainy ALL DAY Saturday I was beyond happy to see that it was notably not rainy but the sun was shining and it was fairly warm out!

I bought this star denim jacket in November 2017 when Jeff and I went to New Orleans for a long weekend from a little boutique on Magazine St. Armoire Boutique and I live for any moment I get to wear it!  I feel it’s the perfect piece to jazz up any outfit and it went perfectly with this denim and white tank look!

Wishing warmer weather to all my guys and gals out there freezing right now!
