Having been in quarantine for the last 7 months I’ve been thinking of things I can do to make life a little calmer each day. I’ve come up with 10 simple choices that can help and not just in quarantine but forever more! If you’re interested in my thoughts, then keep reading.
Don’t Hit Snooze
It’s always enticing to sleep in late, especially when you really don’t have the energy to get out of bed but trust me, don’t procrastinate. Get up and get the day started! The earlier of a start you get to your day the better you’ll feel.
Stay Off Social Media for an Hour
It’s so easy to jump right onto your phone and start scrolling though Instagram while lying in bed but don’t. The last thing you want to do is cloud your head with what everyone else is doing first thing in the morning besides you have to remember people post their highlight reels to IG. Give yourself the proper wake up time before indulging!
Seriously though, within your first hour of waking time you should consume at least 8oz of water. Our bodies need hydration, especially as we start our days!
Meditate / Pray
Every morning we should allow ourselves 5 – 10 minutes to relax and get ourselves in a positive mindset. Whether that means mediation for you or spending time with God, it’s important spend time centering your mind.
Eat a Healthy Breakfast
Just like our bodies need water to perform they need food as well! A healthy breakfast is a Must! Sometimes I’ve found it helps to prepare your breakfast the night before. Personally, I love an Acai Bowl, Oatmeal and Overnight Oats with diced up fruit! Can easily be prepared and is definitely a healthy choice! But remember, every once in a while, treat yourself to a warm Croissant!
Treat Yourself to a Warm Beverage of Your Choice
Now that you’ve had your first helping of hydration and you’re eating breakfast it is perfectly acceptable to treat yourself to a warm beverage. I associate warm beverages with coziness so make yourself a coffee, a tea or a latte and enjoy!
Tidy Up Your Space
For me nothing is better than being in a clean and organized space. My husband will tell you I have slight OCD and maybe that’s developed as I’ve gotten older but I truly enjoy taking 15 minutes in the morning to organize and clean my space. Fluffing my couch cushions, putting the dried dishes away, dusting; it truly makes my morning and allows me to not have to do it again for the remainder of the day!
Write Out You To Do List for the Day
Going grocery shopping? Write it down and write down your list, stopping by goodwill to drop of some clothes write that down too. I’ve found that I am definitely a pen and paper type of girl and I love a good list. My daily planner consists of what I need to get done each day – what posts I’ll be working on, what posts go live, what’s for dinner and every detail in between.
Go for a Morning Walk
Not only is it important to get the blood flow going BUT fresh air and getting out of your four walls in the morning is a necessity!
