My Summer Bucket list

It’s definitely summer and the state is slowly but surely opening back up but honestly, I’m still not quite comfortable being out and about and as much as I’d love to spend my Summer Fridays on a rooftop bar downtown I’m just not there yet. Even if you’re not the quintessential college kid with a Summer Break ( I may be a twenty something girl but I sure ain’t a college kid!) here’s this feeling that comes with the Summer Solstice.

The Summer months mean; vacation, boozy drinks, afternoons at the beach and so much more. While 2020 has definitely proven itself to be the year of creativity in terms of keeping yourself and your family/friends entertained, I’ve learned there’s still a way to incorporate those Summer activities we love so much all while still social distancing! SO ladies and gents! Grab your swimsuit, put on SPF (yes my melanated sisters, you need SPF too!) and let’s get to our Bucket List!

Host a Small Group Happy Hour

If you’re anything like me you LOVE to entertain, and this Summer I’m all about hosting in small groups of course. Jeff and I have stayed around the same group of people and that group has pretty much stuck to my family (parents and brothers and sisters) and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Summer is all about gathering with people and having fun and that’s exactly what we do! Whether that means my dad on the grill, me making a boozy yet refreshing cocktail or a good conversation around the fire pit! Host a small get together this Summer!

Switch Out Your Bedding

I know one of the best feelings EVER is washing the sheets and placing a new set on the bed but one of my ALL TIME favorite feelings is completely switching out the bedding and I did just that last week! I’m a huge fan of all white, especially in the Spring and Summer months. Keep it lightweight both in colors AND in heaviness and in the Summer there’s nothing better than a nice duvet. You can even switch it up by simply changing a few colors and textures with some decorative pillows and a throw blanket if completely changing your bedding or color palette isn’t for you!

Perfect a Refreshing yet Boozy Cocktail

What’s greater than having a signature drink? Having the recipe in your back pocket for the most refreshing yet boozy summer cocktail! For me I personally love anything Lemonade based and anything with mint and/or cucumber! There’s tons of recipes you can find and make your own but for my go to Blueberry Mint Tequila Lemonade check out the below and note this is not to make 1 cup this is served in a pitcher!

3 Cup of Lemonade

1 Liter of Seltzer

2 Cups of Blueberries

1 Cup of Mint Leaves

1 Cup (or more) of Tequila ; you can use an liquor of your choice

Plan a One Day Road Trip

Windows down, driving down the high way with no particular place to go in mind. Whether you end up beach side driving alongside the ocean or in another town filled with fun photo ops, there’s so much you can see driving through whatever state you live in for the day! A few weeks ago Jeff and I decided to drive down toward the beach, the mistake of a wrong turn brought us the long way and we discovered so many fun landmarks we never knew were right here within an hour from our apartment, we listened to great music and had great conversation and thats what Summer Road Trips; whether 1 day or 5 are all about!

Have a Movie Marathon!

I’m embarrassed to say that two weeks ago (yes, Mid June) I had a Halloween themed Movie Marathon! In one day I watched all the Halloweentown’s, The Scream Team, Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire, The Nightmare Before Christmas and of course Hocus Pocus! Now I’d say maybe theme your movie marathon more towards Summer movies but what can I say I’m a Halloween girl through and through!

Cook a Summer Dinner for You and Your Spouse or Roommates

Summer Sunday’s are all about putting together a great meal and this girl loves to not only cook but to try new recipes! This is definitely the time to cook a great Summer Salad try this one, and maybe some nice Salmon with a Mango Salsa and Jasmine Rice served with a chilled glass of Rose! Create a nice centerpiece and throw some market lights up on our balcony and WA-LA, a great Summer Dinner.

What’s on our Summer Buck List and what will you be doing from mine?
